Xin-Yee District
Xin-Yee District is a newly-emerging commercial district, and the mostly-targeted commercial zone in Taipei City at present, including many shopping centers and movie theaters as well as Taipei 101; now, it is called “Taipei-Manhattan”. Jioufen / Jinguashih
Jioufen belongs to Rueifang Township, Taipei County. According to legend, when the land routes were not opened yet, all the supply of goods and materials was passed relying on sea routes. Because there were only 9 households in this village, so they asked for “Jioufen (9 portions)” whenever needing to purchase outside. Over a long period of time, people use it to call this place. Jioufen was prosperous due to the coming gold-searching throngs, but faded away as the gold-searching business declined. After the movie “City of Sadness” became a sensation in Venice Film Festival, this small town recalled people’s attention and memory again. The old-time prosperous streets, abandoned mining pits, unique mining scenes and gold-searching history have attracted artists who are searching for inspiration, and nostalgic tourists also come here for detailed appreciation. Jioufen is shielded by high mountains and has broad seascapes. The phrase “cherry blossom in spring, refreshing breeze in summer, silver grass in autumn, and mist in winter” is the best description of the beautiful yet changeful four seasons in Jioufen.

Beitou Hot Spring
Beitou Hot Spring is surrounded by Shamao Mountain, Datun Mountain and Cising Mountains. It is covered with sulfur smog throughout the year, and boasts abundant hot-spring resources; so, it has the reputation of “Hot Spring Village”. Its spring quality comes in white Sulfur, green sulfur and iron oxide, belonging to sulfur spring mostly. Its spring temperature ranges from 55℃ to 58℃. It has good curative effects on dermatosis and arthritis. To understand the history of Beitou Hot Spring development, you should visit Beitou Hot Spring Museum for one time. Beitou Hot Spring Museum was built by the then Taipei Prefecture in 1913, to imitate Izusan Onsen Pool in Shizuoka, Japan. It displays real stuff, data or photos in the aspects such as the developmental history of Beitou Hot Spring, Beitou humane history, historic spots and architecture, domestic and overseas springs,Beitou stone, etc.
